Welcome to UNCVR... A new search option

Our goal is clean, simple, and fast search results. We have silently released our beta product, so enjoy getting an early glimpse. Feel free to tell your friends.

The basics...

We return a single 8-12 result search page. Search results are sourced from a combination of a live real time News feed API and our own proprietary seach index. How is our site monetized? Right now its not, we are in beta/growth mode. The longer term plan is subscription model with LLM generative answers. However, we always intend to offer a fremium service tier available at no cost.

What makes UNCVR different...

A clean, no fuss, superfast search experience. We also incorporate relavent answer widgets into the flow that we have developed internally. UNCVR is fast for variety of reasons. For starters, lightweight HTML/CSS and No Javascript. This means less client side processing, and especially helps with older desktops, mobile devices and tablets.

The lightweight structure means we can operate in low-bandwidth environments. Have you ever struggled to do a Google search when your phone only has a single bar of cell service on a 3G network? For example, Google's landing page is 430Kb and typical search results response is 380Kb on mobile. Compare that to UNCVR where our landing page is 38Kb and serach results page is 60Kb without an answer widget or 75Kb with an answer widget. That scenario on limited cell coverage is ~4-5 seconds load time for Google vs ~1 second for UNCVR.

Lastly, we dont rely on a 3rd party API feed for search organics. We run our own search index, primarily sourced from public data sets (Wikipedia + StackExchange) and our own web crawler. This means our results are available for processing in under 300ms vs 800-2500ms for external APIs.

Really? Your own search index...

Yes! We have our own search index and gets better everyday. Here are some general stats:

Complete index of all Wikipedia (updated monthly)
Complete index of all 173 Stack Exchange communities (updated monthly)
Curated list of crawled websites (30,000 domains with over 25 million indexed pages... and growing)

Some queries may not return the best results, but some are really good. We are actively updating our ranking and relevancy on an almost daily basis. We crawl weekly and add around 200 new domains every crawl. However, we dont just crawl any website. Sites must have relevant and valuable content. We decided to go all in on our own index vs using a 3rd party API. API feeds are costly and slow, some taking 800-1500ms for a data response. Our local index averages 350ms respone, and is another factor as to why our search is so fast.

Always on SafeSearch and Curated Index...

The uncomfortable truth these days is the internet is full of garbage. UNCVR is about finding usefull public information, not pornography. We dont index or crawl any adult content sites. However, just because a domain passes the adult content filter doesn't mean its automatically added either. The AI age has brought us content farms of plagarized and auto-generated content, content that can diluate a search engine. The public is welcome to submit a domain to our crawler, and if it passes our algorithms and checks will be added.
